Why Facilities Engineering?
Because installations give life and value to buildings!
The functional value of a building, which means the comfort and safety of use, as well as the operating consumptions (energy and other utilities), classify a building in terms of quality. A building is of use value if the heating, ventilation/air-conditioning, electrical, lighting, water supply, sewerage, fire safety, data transmission, automation and so on, installations are in place and functioning properly. And correct operation involves all phases of system development: conception/design, realization/installation and operation/maintenance.
The investment value of modern facilities in a building is high and growing (40-70% of the total), and the running/utilization costs of buildings are almost exclusively due to the operation of the facilities (energy, water, fuels).
The profession of Facilities Engineer is beautiful, highly sought after and modern, offering great rewards. It is sought after because, in the built environment, the design, construction and use of installations can only be carried out by professional installation engineers, and the construction sector is large and expanding. The profession is modern because the need for comfort, energy saving and sustainability through the use of renewable energy resources and environmental protection are the imperatives of the modern world, and we, the installation engineers, are the key professionals to achieve these goals, working in team with architects and structural engineers.
What can you do with a degree in plumbing engineering?
As a state diploma, it is recognized throughout the country and internationally.
The Faculty of Plant Engineering, through the work of exceptionally professional and academically trained teaching staff, helps you to acquire the knowledge necessary to become a good engineer, to develop your analytical thinking and your ability to find sustainable solutions to a wide range of situations encountered in the built environment. You can also acquire the necessary knowledge to become a technical expert in a wide variety of economic fields (business, finance, management, entrepreneurship, justice, etc.). The higher education of installation engineering was established in 1949 within the Bucharest Institute of Constructions, which has since become the Technical University of Constructions Bucharest.
This year we are celebrating 73 years of higher technical education in installation engineering, years in which many installation engineers have specialized.
During this time we have trained over 10,000 students who have graduated from the Faculty of Plant Engineering.
One of the recent successes of the faculty are the results of the students Mihai Băiceanu and Ene Alexandra, winners of the UTCB Student Excellence Awards Gala, who also have outstanding results in extracurricular activities.
The Excellence Award was won by the students in the team #EFdeN, which at the international competition #SolarDecathlonMiddleEast,have won numerous awards for #Romania!
